Kripalvananda Yoga Institue, Inc. (KYI), is a Pennsylvania non-profit corporation established to preserve and maintain Muktidham, the personal residence of Swami Kripalvanada while he resided in the United States.

Located in Sumneytown, Pennsylvania, Muktidham is now used as a gathering place for chanting, satsang, spiritual gathering, meditation and other devotional practices.  Yogic chanting takes place on the first Sunday of each month, as well as on special holidays.

In addition to its core mission of preserving and maintaining Muktidham, KYI also seeks to promote the teachings of Swami Kripalvananda, to bring those teachings to a wider community, and to assist devotees in their practices.

KYI is an independent, not-for-profit organization, supported by friends of Muktidham and devotees of Swami Kripalvanda. It is not affiliated with any other person, firm or organization, in any way.

Charlyn (Anandamai) Reihman

Anandamai lives a few minutes away from Muktidham. She is a Kripalu yoga teacher and is committed to the Path of Love, preserving the teaching of our lineage, and making the sacred space of Muktidham available to visitors on the path.

Bob Rodini

Bob was drawn to Bapuji through his disciples’ Amrit Desai and Hari Sharana. When the teacher’s students inspire their students, you realize the power of the teaching. Bapuji’s most powerful teaching is that we are all one family.

Shambhu (Paul) Herzer

Shambhu has served all of the organizations close to Swami Kripalu in America and visited all of the sites from Swami Kripalu’s life in India. From North Carolina he always questioned how he ended up in Pennsylvania until he was asked to serve on KYI’s board.

Kent (Premal) Mikalsen

Premal is an artist and designer living in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts. In 1977 he moved into the Kripalu Yoga Ashram in Sumneytown, PA, where he lived for ten years during the time when Bapuji was doing his sadhana in Muktidham. Presently, Premal can be found painting in his studio in Pittsfield when he is not working on projects in architectural and entertainment design.
